Snoqualmie Pass holds more than just trails — it holds stories. Earlier this spring, when the mountains were still buried in snow, I lost a piece of gear, my Black Diamond Trekking Pole, somewhere high on the ridge. Now summer has melted the slopes bare, and I’ve returned to search for it.

This adventure takes me deep into the Cascades, with Red Mountain, Red Pass, Lundin Peak, and Snoqualmie Mountain towering overhead. The day begins with fast, lung-burning trail running — creek crossings, steep climbs, and wild alpine terrain. But it shifts into something more: a search through rugged country, the tension of the unknown, and even a sketchy off-trail down-climb that tests my focus and nerve. A Recovery mission that turns Mission Unknown.
