If you’ve ever used a dog seat cover protector, you probably think your car’s protected. But here’s the catch—every single one leaves the top of your back seat exposed. That’s exactly where your dog rests their paws when looking out the rear window… and that means scratches, slobber, and wear you didn’t plan for.
In this video, I’ll show you a simple, budget-friendly fix using a $6 moving blanket from Harbor Freight—demonstrated in my Tesla Model Y, but it works in any car or SUV. No sewing required. Just mark, cut, and cover.
This DIY upgrade:
✅ Protects the top and rear of your back seat
✅ Looks clean (especially the dark gray option!)
✅ Takes less than 5 minutes
✅ Works with all dog seat covers
✅ Costs under $6 total
All you need is:
• A moving blanket (mine is 40” x 72”, but bigger ones are available)
• A strip of masking tape
• A knife and scissors
• Optional: fabric tape or a hem for a cleaner finish
Protect your interior the easy way—your future self (and your upholstery) will thank you!
