Yesterbus organised Ding ! Ding ! On the Bishop Buses event 2025
We travel aboard Ex East Kent Road Car Company AEC REGENT V PFN 858 preserved as Lockey's of West Auckland County Durham and the distinctive black & white livery. We place the camera above the engine cover within the drivers cab so we can hear and see what really goes on in this confined working space during a normal working shift doing service, thankfully with a conductor on board. Today our driver is Terry Pinnegar, and our conductor is Matthew Hill.
We take a drive down Bishop Auckland Newgate Street high street once a busy place, now like many more town centres empty shops with chipboard windows and very low footfall. Then we continue on the theme of recreating service 82 from Bishop Auckland Market Place to Evenwood, we depart from Ramshaw turning circle and head back to Evenwood and Evenwood Gate leaving at this point as we head off back to Bishop Auckland.
In the heyday of all local bus operators Ok Motor Services, The Blue Belle, Stephensons, Lockey's all provided services from Bishop Auckland to Evenwood and at specific times to Ramshaw, buses came up to Evenwood every 15 minutes.
