Welcome to the next episode in our Exodus series! In this video, we explore the powerful moment when Moses uses animal blood to ratify the covenant between God and His people.
First, we ask: Why did Moses use animal blood for the covenant? Blood symbolized life itself in ancient cultures, and its use in the covenant ceremony represented the solemn and binding nature of God’s agreement with Israel. It was a sacred act showing that this covenant involved life, death, and commitment—a serious promise sealed with the giving of life.
Next, we consider whether the people truly understood what they were doing. While the full depth of the covenant’s meaning may have been beyond them at first, they willingly accepted God’s terms and committed themselves to His promises. Their declaration, “All the LORD has said we will do,” showed a faith and trust that laid the foundation for their journey, even if they didn’t grasp every detail.
We then reflect on how God’s power works in us practically to keep us in His will. The covenant wasn’t just a contract—it was a relationship sustained by God’s presence and power in their lives. Practically, this meant God’s Spirit empowered His people to live according to His commands, guiding, strengthening, and correcting them as they walked in obedience.
Join us as we unpack this profound encounter and learn what it means to live in a covenant relationship with the living God!
