For a clear bright blue sky drive of Trail Ridge Road, there are probably dozens of other videos on YouTube. This one is a little different. We had a gnarly cold snowy morning, so we attached our Gopro to the hood of our car and went for a drive to the top of Trail Ridge Road. Hope you enjoy this unique view of this Colorado treasure. Let me know in the comments if you have any good stories about your trip on Trail Ridge Road!

About Trail Ridge Road:
Trail Ridge Road is a nearly 50 mile paved road taking visitors across the Continental Divide high across the Rocky Mountains between classic towns Grand Lake and Estes Park. Along the way, one can see nearly every major peak in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Open from June to October, this fully paved road reaches altitude at 12,000 feet with the Alpine Visitor's Center near the very top. Considered one of the scenic byways in the US, Trail Ridge Road provides access to miles of hiking trails and brings us closer to amazing wildlife. Personally, one of my favorite places on the planet is the top of the Alpine Ridge Trail, where one can go straight up and see miles into the distance (normally - on this day, not so much). The view featured at the end of the intro.
If you can make it to Trail Ridge Road and have good weather -- along with plenty of time, consider going up Fall River Road to the Alpine Visitor's Center and then drive back down Trail Ridge. Fall River Road is a one-way 11 mile dirt road that goes up from Horseshoe Park to the Alpine Visitor's Center. The road is a bit on the scary side, but is very safe. When you watch this video, you will probably understand why I did not chose to take that route on this day. :)
No matter which way you go, please remember to be respectful of the wildlife and the other visitors. This is an amazing place to be and we are all very fortunate to have access to this space.
In the summer months, one must have a Timed-entry Reservation to get into Rocky Mountain National Park as well as a park pass in order to drive on Trail Ridge Road.
