"Explaining" Nintendo's Controversial Decisions (Super Mario, Zelda 35)

So a bunch of Super Mario titles are being taken off of the Nintendo store at the end of this month (March 31st). This includes the Super Mario 3D All Stars bundle (64, Sunshine, and Galaxy) and the Super Mario Bros 35 online game. It's been... noticed that lots of fans are feeling a bit passionate about this alarming change to Mario's available games; but could it be that there's a pretty simple explanation for all this?
