This was during the funeral ceremony of maman Gopou in her village Gogota next to Lola town near by the Mt. Nimba, southeast region of the Republic of Guinea.
In the Konon tribe, a subgroup of the Mande ethnic group, the initiated women can come to perform symbolic song and dances during the funeral ceremony to show their love and respect to the deceased person.
The Mande people comprising the Konon, Dan/Yacouba, Guerze, Manon clans are found in Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia and Republic of Guinea. They share the same tradition. They live around the Mr. Nimba range of mountains.
A lot of people came to assist at the funeral of maman Gopou. She was a woman of principle.
Rest In Power Queen Gopou.
