Nikon D2H DSLR captures history in 2025

In this video I take a 2003 Nikon D2H out and photograph very important imagery in 2025. I mount my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII along with my Nikon D2H DSLR and I document the aftermath of the devastating wild fires that left thousands of my neighbors in Altadena and Pasadena in the Eaton fire without a home on Jan 7, 2025.

This was and is a very emotional video to make for me because I too was impacted by this event in history. Taking these images with the Nikon D2H was a roller coaster ride for me. Knowing that I'm using a camera from over 2 decades ago and knowing the importance of these images capturing the aftermath of the Eaton fire in 2025.

Thousand of lives were changed this day and I knew that what I was photographing was someone's life. Someone's past. Families that lost loved ones and lost everything.

A little about the camera I'm using here. THe Nikon D2H was released in 2003. It uses an 4MP APS-C sensor and has a pro body flagship design. This camera was the best sports fast action flagship in 2003 and cost $5000 at the time of release.

I owned one in 2006 then I sold my D2H. I rebought a low shutter count unit a couple of years ago for $50. Check out the video here.
