The church is located in Pallikkunnu, near Kuttikkanam / Peermade area in Idukki district, Kerala
It falls under the Church of South India (CSI), Diocese of East Kerala.
The land (about 15 acres and 62 cents) was donated by the Travancore Maharani Rani Sethulakshmibai. The church was completed by British missionary/reverend Henry Baker Jr. and plantation-owners around 1862, and officially built/established in 1869.
A striking feature: the cemetery adjacent to the church has many tombs of British planters, and even one of a horse.
One curious and unique tomb: the white horse named “Downey” of planter J. D. Munro is buried there, as per his request.
Its setting in the hills, the well-preserved furniture and architecture, and the distinct cemetery make it different from modern mass-built churches.
