The Harlem Globetrotters had three Saturday morning shows, two of which were cartoons, during the 70's and the very last one was the Super Globetrotters depicting them as superheroes.
Most of the Super Globetrotters superhero powers and names were basically taken from the 1966 Hanna Barbera superhero group the Impossibles. Liquid Man aka Fluid Man on the Impossibles, Multi Man, and Spaghetti Man who was basically the Impossible’s Coil man. In addition the team included Gizmo and Super Sphere.
Liquid Man could turn into water. He was also sometimes called Fluid Man and even Aquaman. Super Sphere was probably the best and most original character he could basically act like a real life super basketball.
Spaghetti Man had the power extend his body and act like a rope or ladder.
Gizmo could pull any kind of gadget out of his huge afro which is a pretty neat trick. It reminds me a little of Captain Caveman’s ability to pull anything out of his own hair.
Multi Man could clone himself.
The Crime Globe was a basketball shaped satellite that would update the Globetrotters on criminal activity.
The Globetrotters members included Nate Branch, Curly Neal, Twiggy Sanders, Sweet Lou Dunbar, and Geese Ausbie.
The entire Saturday morning series can be owned on DVD here - https://amzn.to/3ou1SpL Any purchase through this link gives me a small commission. Thanks.
