Cambodia - What to do and see? Phnom Penh - Siem Reap/Angkor Wat

The first episode on Cambodia starts of with the main sightseeing highlights in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. We are going to check out the Royal Palace, the National museum of Cambodia, the night markets and the famous Buddhist temple of Wat Pnom. Furthermore i´m going to take you on a river cruise down the Mekong river for sunset and show you some of the coolest rooftop bar and restaurants in Phnom Penh like "Smashed Burger", "Coffee Temple bakery" and the HM Grand Central rooftop. Apart from that we are going to journey way back into the dark era of Cambodia when "The Khmer Rouge" regime with brother No 1, Pol Pot ran the country and "Angkar" from 1975 till 1979. In these dark hours of the so called "stone age communism" an estimated 2.2 million Cambodians died from starvation or they were murdered by the regime. Best places to experience the living history in my opinion was the National Olympic Stadium, "The Killing Fields" (genocide museum) outside 12km south of the capital as well as the S21 -Jail genocide memorial inside the city center. Check out the oscar winning movie, "The Killing fields" as well. After spending 10 days in Phnom Penh i´ll take you on a flight with local carrier Cambodia Angkor Air to Siem Reap where the biggest temple in the world is located, Angkor Wat which is a UNESCO world heritage sight since 1994 as well. Afterwards we will take you to Sihanoukville and to the paradise islands of Koh Rong Sanloem in episode 2 & 3.
