Let's meet Irene and Maria Teresa. Two experienced lacemakers share their unique stories their unique stories and love for Cantù lace. Lace has been made in Cantù since the early 17th century and it has a very important cultural value. Yet, today it is an endangered art form on the verge of disappearing forever. Preservationist Renata reveals the historical significance of this ancient tradition and why it is so important to protect it and pass it on to the next generations.

"#LakeComo's Cantù Lace | A Disappearing Art" was produced by USI Tourism M.A. Michele Tagliabue, as part of a People Are Culture internship program. Michele created a destination brand video campaign about Lake Como, featuring some of the area's cultural stewards.

The Flip the Lens (FTL) People Power Skills program offers high school & university students the opportunity to develop their interpersonal skills, while also building professional digital portfolios.

These immersive interactions of rapport-building offer “practice” for the sometimes intimidating scenarios like college admissions or job interviews. The skills the FTL course fosters include active listening, adaptability, communication, collaboration, empathy, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving.

FTL filmmakers create short documentary videos that include interviews on the topics of belonging, creativity and culture. The videos created by Flip the Lens filmmakers are published on our digital platform! The FTL online course gives young people a way to make a social impact while they grow personally and professionally!
