The Boss BR-800 is a bit of a Swiss Army knife. It does loads of things. It is small and well-designed. It is relatively inexpensive. However, it is not a looper pedal (though t does looping,) it is not a pedal board (though it has potentially millions of effects,) it is not a digital modelling amplifier (though you can edit the settings on any of the 39 built-in amplifier simulations,) and it is not a digital drum kit. However, the rhythm backing is really useful and can be pretty good, in my opinion.
In this video I put together a simple rhythm arrangement using just two patterns (P014 and P017) after a metronome (P314) count-in. Yeah, it's Dire Straits again! Yay! Copyright Claim. At least it is recognisable. None of my videos are monetised.
The problem with the Rhythm thing is that there are 294 preset drumming patterns, when you probably want to start with something plain and simple. These can be used with any of the 8 preset drum kits. That is a bit overwhelming.
If you want quick-start advice, try P098 on drum kit ROOM, at whatever tempo you need. Alternative "mostly harmless" patterns are:
P014, P002, P038 on kit STD2, or
P100 on kit JAZZ
NEVER try P092 on REGGAE at 175 bpm. You have been warned.
