Ludwigsburg Palace is a 452-room palace complex in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It's one of Europe's largest original Baroque complexes and is nicknamed the "Versailles of Swabia". The palace's total area, including the gardens, is 32 hectares, making it the largest palatial estate in Germany.
The palace was designed by Donato Giuseppe Frisoni, Johann Friedrich Nette, and Philipp Joseph Jenisch, with the first two being Eberhard Louis, Duke of Württemberg and Charles Eugene, Duke of Württemberg. The palace's name, Ludwigsburg, means "Louis's castle" and comes from its builder, Eberhard Louis, Duke of Württemberg. Duke Eberhard Ludwig von Wuerttemberg laid the cornerstone in 1704 at the age of 27.
To get to Ludwigsburg Palace, you can take an S-Bahn or DB train to Ludwigsburg station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the palace.
