Fiber optic links between switches can fail in ways that create a unidirectional link: A link that can forward frames in only one direction. In that case, normal Spanning Tree operation may choose an STP topology that creates a forwarding loop.
In this video, learn about the underlying cause (the unidirectional link), and how the STP Loop Guard feature can be used to prevent STP from creating the forwarding loop.
