Japanese culture Kagura "Special Edition" Sneaking into the rehearsals of the children's kagura !

We visited the practice of "Himawari children's Miyoshi Kagura Troupe" in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
They welcomed us in a very friendly manner, and we were able to take pictures in a relaxed atmosphere.

They are scheduled to perform at the "Miyoshi Traditional Culture and Performing Arts Festival" to be held in Miyoshi City on Sunday, February 12, 2023, and were rehearsing "Modoribashi" for the performance to be presented at the festival.
The scenes of the practice include one in which Ibaraki Doji appears at night disguised as a beautiful woman, and another in which he is seen as a man who has been kidnapped by the "Ibaraki Doji".
The scene where "Watanabe no Tsuna" receives an order to defeat the "Ibaraki Doji" and confronts the "Ibaraki Doji".

The dancers watched the leader Ishimaru and the senior dancers, checking each other's movements over and over again, and the musicians listened intently to the senior dancers' advice on where to strike and other aspects of the dance.
At the end of practice, new members joined the troupe after observing and experiencing the performance! The Himawari children's Miyoshi Kagura Troupe was becoming more and more energetic.

The Himawari Children's Miyoshi Kagura Troupe is based in Tokaichi, Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and practices every Saturday.
The group is characterized by its ability to transcend the boundaries of grade and school, while respecting the children's independence and autonomy, and to have fun performing Kagura with their friends.
