Another revisit to Rollercoaster Tycoon, and another park thought long lost. Magic Lands King's Valley was the best park I made in the original RCT, back in 2002 (with the Loopy Landscapes add-on). It is split up into 5 lands:
Venice Square - An Italian twist on a typical theme park's gateway land.
Lost Empire - An Ancient Egyptian-themed land, featuring Inverted Coaster, Seth.
Frontier Village - Western-themed land, featuring Mine Train Coaster, Calamity Mine Railroad.
Pacific Pavilions - A Far Eastern land, featuring Steel Twister Coaster, Iron Dragon.
Kingswood National Park - A land themed after a national park, featuring Wooden Coaster Thunder in the Forest.
You've also got your standard stuff like flat rides, shops and a railroad that circles the park. There's even a car park trolley!
I remember at the time people were making a lot of impressive parks using various patches and trainers to hack the game (I'll never understand why there was never a dedicated sandbox mode, aside from the unideal Mega Park), however many of them would rarely be functional, due to using more than single-spaced pathways. Certainly, it looks better, but guests will walk around in circles and never get to their destination. I wanted to try and build a decent park which used single space pathways so guests could actually use the park.
Lots of work arounds and improvisation. Wooden Roller Coaster track made excellent pagoda-style roofing. The "windows" in Venice Square are actually doors created using Ghost Train track!
Originally it was going to be the first of a set of "Magic Lands" theme parks, unfortunately they never came into fruition.
The park was built using a RCT Drexler-patched version of the original game + Loopy Landscapes, and the Dragons IOA Trainer. Sadly there is no patch available for the Steam version of RCT (RCT Deluxe) and thus this park only loads using the original CD versions. As of writing, unlike my other park that I uploaded a video of (Empire Park), this park won't even load in OpenRCT2.
Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane!
