This video shows how to address a common noise problem from operating various Mazda power seats forward and back. The vehicle I show it on is a 2016 Mazda CX 5 however the same seat is also used on:
i. Some 2013 thru 2016 Mazda CX-5’s
ii. Some 2014 thru 2018 Mazda3’s
iii. Some 2016 Mazda CX-9’s
iv. And 2014 thru 2017 Mazda 6’s
My apologies for the poor exposure quality when attempting to show the dealerships quote of $792 to address this issue. Also, I believe I misspoke at one point on the sequence of removing and installing the drive cable - I took it out from the motor drive first then the console side gear box. When I installed it I put it in the motor side first then the console side gear box. While I did not have to unplug the electrical connection (possible cause for deploying side air bag) I still prefer having the battery ground disconnected as a safeguard against accidental movement of the seat while the drive cable is out since that would cause the motor side slide to move without corresponding movement of the console side slide creating an out of alignment issue.
