DIY Work Stand For Recumbent Trike And Recumbent Bike Inspiration

This is a recumbent trike and bike work stand made from simple materials. You can adjust the height, width, length, and any other parts to fit your particular recumbent trike(s) and/or bike(s). If you are handy, just watching this video with a few pauses here and there will let you pick out your parts list and configure to your own personal specifications. *(At about 2:25 you will see that I had installed an extra tee-nut. It was a mistake and should not have been installed. It sits harmlessly beneath the strap hinge at the farther most mounting hole which is not needed - obviously).

I used a radial arm saw to cut the wood, a drill and bits, driver bits, counter sink wood and metal bits, sander/sand paper, and possibly other tools that I just don't remember at this time.

The work stand works flawlessly and It is great for storage and tune-ups/repairs.

Pittsburgh Banding Clamps (I only used one corner of the four and drilled through it to mount it to the rear recumbent frame support. I used the 2 U-hooks on the front wheel frame supports).

Locking 2" Swivel Caster Wheel Set (I only used three and saved one in case one malfunctions - so far so good:).

Bicycle Fork Mount ( I used one that I already had. This one is simple, practical, and gets the job done without breaking the bank!

Gorilla Ultimate Water Proof Wood Glue.

I glued as well as bolted my main frame together and glued my quarter round wood pieces above the casters).

QTY: One - 3/4-Inch by 1/16-Inch by 72-Inch Flat Bar (Cut one for front and one for side. This allows knobs to be tightened into the aluminum without damaging the wood and becoming unstable. I sanded down the corners to reduce getting scratched or having something catch on the sharp corners. Counter sink and use conical wood screws to mount to frame as in video. You should use at least 4 screws to secure each flat bar.

*Note: You may use variations of all materials that I have used. This is just an idea come to life and you can modify it to your heart's content.

The rest are generally found at local hardware stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's
QTY: 4 T-Nuts (blind nuts), 4 knobs with matching threads (will thread into T-Nuts), and QTY: One matching lock nut (for knob stand-off as seen when removing knob to fold stand).
QTY: Three - 2 x 4 x 8 pieces of high quality straight lumber (as straight as you can find).
QTY: 1 - Quarter Round (Optional pieces that I glued at the bases above the casters).
QTY: One - 1 x 4 x 6 high quality lumber (as straight as you can find).
QTY: 1 - Wooden Dowel (For mounting tool "tray") I wouldn't go any more narrow than 1/4" diameter.
QTY: 12 - Zinc plated 4" bolts, lock washers and nuts for upright supports.
-QTY: 10 - 1/4 x 3 inch lag bolts (counter sunk to mate 2 x 4 frame pieces together. I also coated screw threads with glue - probably overkill).
QTY: 1 - White pine high quality white wood for your tool stand (mounts to wooden dowels and can be removed for folding the stand - ***remember not to glue the stand to the dowels***)
QTY: 3 - Strap Hinges with accompanying screws. (Width of strap hinges can be seen in video - They are fairly heavy duty to keep the structure stable).
