As a kid I’ve always been a fan of the Mitsubishi Pajero. My dad owns a 1986 L047 model and it’s still running until today.
He taught me how to drive using his Pajero. And I’ve always wanted to own this second generation model since I was 17.
So last week I flew to Miri in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo to get one. This heavily used car is 31 years old and it’s still in its original condition.
It's quite beaten up but still running OK. It needs fixing here and there.
And it will be used for my company’s operations in Sabah, Malaysia. Most people would not even think about buying this old car.
But to me it’s because it has a story. It has a deep connection with my childhood.
I'm currently documenting the restoration process here on YouTube. For example, where I bought the parts etc.
Next year, my two best friends and I will drive this “Voyager” around Sabah.
And I will be sharing stories of the people and places we will visit.
Everyone has a story. You have a story too and there’s always a way to make our lives meaningful. After all, life is too short to not do anything crazy.
