Slip of the Arrow is a multi-pitch trad climb route in Red Rock Canyon's Slippery Buttress area. The climb has lots of jugs and holds and is fairly positive pitched. Because of that, the rating of 5.7+ on Mountain Project seem more like a modern day feel-good rating (route shared in 2017). There are a few section where climbers can choose to do easier face climbs or perform more challenging mini-roof pulls from corners.
The gear anchor placement is a bit obscured for a new climber such as myself. For each pitch, we basically climbed till we feel like making an anchor. People on Mountain Project seem to pick different spots for anchoring/belaying as well.
The rappel is quite a pain in the butt if you only have 1 rope. With our 70m plus 2 long cords and a couple of slings, we barely made it to the 2nd rap anchor. The 2nd rap has a potential rope-eating notch, but fortunately that rap can be done with just 1 70m rope therefore the last person can double strand and spare knots and hardware. The 3rd rap can be done with 80m (in our case, 70m plus 2 cords).
