'Generation Mbamba’ is an all brother & cousin band based in a small desert village of Fouta-Toro region in Senegal. Belonging to Fulani ethnic group, they are Griots (story-tellers through an oral/musical tradition) by social class. While their fathers play traditional Fulani Griot praisals, these young boys mix Houddus with modern instruments like electric guitars and make upbeat music that is enjoyed by both elders and the local youth at local weddings and naming ceremonies. I have been filming & recording their music trying to help spread the word !
