Alaskan Black Bear Hunt.!

We have had a few black bears coming around the house as of late. We had one sniffing around the chickens a few weeks ago. I loaded a few loads for the 1878 Springfield Trapdoor 45/70 and headed out. Sarah and I enjoy the taste of bear meat so I decided it was time to head to my spot and set up to fill one of my tags for the season. This male was fair sized and had been in the yard a few times in the past few weeks. No part of this bear was wasted. Every part of is was put to use. We ground a lot of for burger, cut a bunch of steaks and roast. We canned the rest. All the meat came out great. All the fat was saved from the bear to be used at a later date. The hide is in the freezer and will be fleshed, dried and tanned very soon.
