The BBC’s Anne Soy has visited the garrison town of Gwoza, in north-eastern Nigeria.
There, she witnessed the distribution of the World Food Programme’s last remaining aid for the region, due to decisions by Donald Trump's administration to cut financing for aid programmes, as well as cuts promoted by other Western governments such as that of the UK.
The WFP told the BBC that it fears thousands of people could instead turn to militant groups, including Boko Haram — raising concerns that this could further destabilise security in the region.
