2 die after car splits in half in Granite Bay crash, CHP says

Two people have died early Sunday morning in Placer County after a car crashed into a tree, splitting the car in half, officials say. The crash happened on Eureka Road in Granite Bay at 3:14 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said. CHP said the vehicle lost control and went off the roadway, crashing into a tree. The vehicle, a BMW, then split in half. High speed is a suspected factor for the cause of the crash.
