Marla Moyas zweite Single „Shedding Skin“ - lebendig, verletzlich, mutig
Lyrics
On days like these, life flies right by me
Feel half like the moon, you’re gone and I’m blue
Prosperity, of physical contact, still it takes time
To let myself shine on through, without you
Let me introduce to you my naked skin the shedding process now begins, I’m terrified
I couldn’t live with or without you, it blurred out the lines
We drew till the end of time, ain’t that right
Let me introduce to you my naked skin the shedding process now begins I’m terrified
Got married to the thought of loving you forever
When did we last dance so free
It seemed as it would last forever and didn’t it, and didn’t it, and didn’t it?
Marla has a way with undeniable purity. Her voice - deep and raspy, yet playful and well controlled, reflect her relentless pursuit of truth in creative expression. One says, she combines an exuberant flare with youthful frankness. From mellow, dreamy melodies to sloppy strums with one too many chord changes – A sound, reminiscent of Harry Nielsson, reflecting a certain Fleetwood Mac style and yet, is its very own thing.
In her young years of growing up in Heidelberg, Germany she followed a tight schedule, going from Cello lessons to choir rehearsals. She eventually picked up her sisters guitar and wrote her first song in that very first session at the age of 14.A couple years later she played shows with her own band doing original songs and finally recording her debut album ‘Madawaska Valley’ (2016) in Toronto. Her first single landed over 1 Mio. plays within a week. Shortly after, she formed the duo ‘Marla & David Celia' with her partner. Together, they released two albums ‘Daydreamers’ (2018), & ‘Indistinct Chatter’ (2022) independently, playing an average of 150 shows a year and reaching the peak of their duo career, as they decided to go separate ways.
A musical journey of unconventional beginnings is coming to an end. In October 2024 she recorded her new solo album in Los Angeles, with her biggest influence in music as her producer - Robert Francis. In the heavenly equipped analog ‘Arnwood Ranch Studio’, she eternalized her best work yet.
Her songs go under your skin in a way you wouldn't have expected at first.
The mix of her amazingly honest self-reflection and yet so positive attitude make it difficult to attribute the tears to laughter or crying in the end.
