This is a brief overview of two families of hand planes and a discussion of their advantages and disadvantages. Bench planes or high angle planes are usually set at "common pitch" which is 45º. Lie Nielsen offers addition bench plane frogs at "york pitch" which is 50º, and (middle pitch) which is 55º that can help with tricky grain. This video deals only with "common pitch" bench planes and low angle block planes.
