Last time I spoke about toners, it was mostly around the theory of toning hair, so in this video I wanted to deal with the practical and show you exactly how to mix a toner. Previous video concerning toning is here and I advise watching for the more theory side of toning. I think it's always useful to know WHY we do what we are doing:
• Toning hair: Remove orange and brass tones
This is mainly used when you want to tone bleached hair, but it is also the same for making a toner to remove unwanted tones from previously coloured hair.
In this video I use the ratio 1:1:1 (ex. 10ml colour, 10ml water, 10ml developer), but 2:1:1 (20ml colour, 10ml water, 10ml developer) is also a common ratio used in salons, but will require you to be a little more careful with watching it develop. The maths of this would explain, but is a little out of the scope of this video and would overcomplicate matters...
I hope you find it helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me, I'm always happy to help!
