Tannaka-Krein reconstruction is a well known procedure which recovers a Hopf algebra from its category of modules and fiber functor. We will review this reconstruction procedure (in the semisimple case) in two ways. The first is a hands on approach which is hopefully enlightening for those seeing the theorem for the first time. The second approach is more abstract but far more powerful. This latter approach was extended to higher Hopf algebras in: arxiv.org/abs/2309.05591
Applications to physics will be discussed to the best of the speakers ability, and (time permitting) we will also briefly mention fusion 3-categories.
