I like to dye different materials with ArtColeus dyes in the microwave. I want to show you an easy and quick way to dye a silk scarf in the microwave with our universal dyes. I will be using contrasting colors for the Shibori technique.
This is a very exciting process and always guaranteed lasting results!
Using the ArtColeus Dye + Microwave speeds up the process. Also, this method eliminates boiling.
Materials:
dye "ArtColeus": Plum, Lemon, Orchid;
Silk chiffon scarf;
hot water, salt, vinegar (6%);
Plastic containers, plastic bag, rubber bands, pipette.
Process:
I dissolved the dye in hot water, added salt and vinegar, mixed everything. I made 50-100 ml of each dye. I washed the scarf in soapy water and folded it into a snail shape. You can use different ways to twist the fabric. Then I fixed everything with rubber bands and painted each sector on both sides with a pipette. I covered it with plastic wrap and put it in the microwave. I heated it 3 times for 3 minutes (total 9 minutes).
❕ Coloring mode:
I use the microwave at maximum power; I heat it up 3 times for 3 minutes. After each 3-minute cycle I check that the fabric is not dry. If the fabric dries out during the heating process, then put a glass of water next to it.
❕This is Important ❕Microwave power is different for everyone, make samples first❕
Once heated, unfold and let the scarf cool completely, then rinse in clean water, dry and use in your projects.
Acid Dyes ArtColeus are simple and easy to use. I wish you many interesting experiments and excellent results!
