Learn how to use the metronome in your daily practice in a few simple steps. For best results, repeat the steps covered in the video at several slow, medium, and fast tempi (speeds) of the metronome.
Students under the age of 7 may require assistance from parents in practice. Remember that the metronome is a friend here to challenge and raise us to the best pianists we can be. Please emphasize the importance of doing mindful steps such as those shown in the video rather than treating the metronome as a background event.
The piece used as an example is "Birthday Party" found in John Thompson's Teaching Little Fingers to Play. The steps discussed can be used for any pieces in this and other beginning method books (e.g. Alfred's Prep Course for the Young Beginner, Faber Piano Adventures, Lang Lang Piano Academy, just to name a few favourites).
