Why not break out from conformity and convention? Why not consider something other than the traditional? This TEDx talk will be a call to action for young people to make an independent travel experience, ideally alone, a compulsory part of their learning. AAS Diploma Programme Coordinator Paul Lennon, with the help of AAS drama students, illustrates the fact that "travel as education" has been an essential, valued part of learning for thousands of years and that it is again growing as a viable, essential part of educational experience. The talk includes elements of non-verbal communication alongside comments in five different languages to illustrate the importance of communication and openness to difference as well as the common ground we all share.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
