"Heart Rhythms Unveiled: Atrial, Junctional, and Ventricular Escape Rhythms Explained💓
Normally the SA Node is the dominant pacemaker. But, every part of the electrical conduction system has foci that can generate electrical stimuli independently- known as automaticity foci. When the SA Node functions properly all of the other foci below are suppressed- they are asleep. But, the nature was very smart to produce a backup plan, a backup mechanism when the dominant pacemaker fails to lead the heart. There are three separate levels for this “backup pacemaker mechanism”. ATRIAL, JUNCTIONAL, and VENTRICULAR. When the previously dominant leader stops working, another automaticity focus, no longer overdrive suppressed wakes up from its sleepy, still phase to start pacing and to save the person's life, and with that Escape Beats and Escape Rhythms occur.
In this educational and visually engaging video, we break down the distinctions between atrial, junctional, and ventricular escape rhythms. Explore the beats that occur when the heart's natural pacemakers take a brief pause, allowing secondary pacemakers to step in and maintain the rhythm. Discover the fascinating interplay between the atria and ventricles, and how escape rhythms contribute to the heart's resilience.
