Very rare footage of a supersonic flight done few weeks ago at speeds around MACH 1.6-1.7.
With naked eyes, they can be seen much better. The camera does not help much...
Shockwaves are very hard to see, and it is better if you use a good laptop screen.
With the unique position of the back seat of the Lockheed F-104, it is possible to see this phenomena, just in front of the tip tanks.
The shock wave builds up some 5-7 inches n front of the tip tank and travels together with the aircraft.
Again with naked eyes is super obvious, on camera it needs to be watched again a few times.
I will try with different angles to see if we can get better results.
