Per Police Report: On 4/18/2023, Trooper K. Achors observed a white Infiniti pass their location on Interstate 10 eastbound at mile marker 1. The vehicle had a tinted windshield. As the vehicle passed, Trooper Achors entered the roadway from the center paved median slot to overtake it. However, it became apparent that the vehicle was driving recklessly and making multiple lane changes.
One notable incident occurred when the Infiniti made an illegal lane change from the left travel lane to the right travel lane and proceeded to pass a semi-truck on the right paved shoulder. Trooper Achors promptly notified the Tallahassee Regional Communications Center (TRCC) that the vehicle was fleeing. They provided TRCC with the make and model of the vehicle. Multiple Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) units in the area responded to the situation.
The fleeing vehicle was then observed driving at a speed exceeding 130 miles per hour, endangering other motorists with its dangerous lane changes. It narrowly avoided colliding with members of the public. FHP cruisers continued to pursue the vehicle.
Eventually, the vehicle exited at exit 5 (Nine Mile Road). It ran a red light and continued north on Nine Mile Road. While attempting to flee, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the guardrail. Losing control, it reentered the roadway and collided with a motorist who was stopped in traffic. One of the passengers in the struck vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Following the collision, the driver of the fleeing vehicle abandoned it and fled on foot. The driver made their way up the ramp and reentered Interstate 10 on foot at the 5-mile marker. Trooper M. Grider apprehended the driver with the assistance of his agency issued K9. Once the suspect was placed in handcuffs and secured in the rear of an FHP patrol cruiser, he refused to identify himself when asked. The suspect was later identified as ISAIAH JAMAL COLLIE through a Florida identification picture.
After Mr. Collie's arrest, a probable cause search of his vehicle was conducted. During the search, a duffle bag was found on the front passenger seat of the Infiniti. Inside the duffle bag, two firearms (a Glock and an AK-style rifle) and 6.6 grams of marijuana were discovered. No other contraband was found in the vehicle.
Mr. Collie was arrested and subsequently transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by EMS for a medical evaluation. Once released from the hospital, he was transported to the Escambia County Jail without incident.
