The following is the text used in the video. I know it is a lot of math; but, it will help save you time.
Antenna Tuning - CB FireStik example - Using an antenna analyzer
Step 1 Find the center frequency
Ch 1 = 26.965 MHz
Ch 40 = 27.405 MHz
Calculation (27.405-26.965)/2 + 26.965 = 27.185
Step 2 Understand what making the antenna longer or shorter will do.
A larger MHz number will need a shorter antenna
Frequency Is Make
26.965 Longer Shorter
\/
27.185 Perfect
/\
27.405 Shorter Longer
Step 3 Find the cap's effect
A. Take an SWR measurement as is
B. Remove the cap and take an SWR a measurement
C. What direction does it move
For this install the cap changed the SWR by 0.52 MHz and acted like it shortened
the antenna
With cap Without cap
1.0 SWR SWR 1.0
26.880 27.400
Without cap the freq is a larger number
Offset = 27.400 - 26.880 = 0.52
Tune without the cap to 1.0 or 1.1 SWR on frequency
27.185 + 0.52 = 27.705
Actual center + Cap’s offset = tune to : without cap
Step 4 Tune without the cap
Perfect SWR target is 27.705 MHz
Step 5
Replace cap and check the SWR for the actual center and the 1.5 range.
