Aspiring teachers have, at some point in their careers, heard about Teach for America. According to their own description, "Teach For America is a diverse network of leaders who confront educational inequity by teaching for at least two years and then working with unwavering commitment from every sector of society to create a nation free from this injustice." And while inequity is certainly something to address, TFA is, like any other institution, a multifaceted program. From the application and the five-minute lesson plan, all the way through Summer Institute, there are challenges that you need to consider when you gauge what you are signing up for. In this video, I share my experience in my time as a TFA Corps Member in New York, and give you some background that I hope can help you in making a more informed decision on why it might be right for you.
