Description: "My will is hard as stone."
Gói-mánaðr (Astrid's Choice) tells the dramatic story of Astrid Olavsdatter. Peace between Norway and Sweden relied on a royal marriage. But when her father, the Swedish King, broke his oath and sent her sister Ingigerd to Russia instead, the peace was shattered.
Astrid refused to accept this. Without her father’s permission, and guided only by Ragnvald Jarl, she embarked on a perilous journey across the frozen mountains in the dead of winter—during the month of Gói-mánaðr (February/March).
She arrived in Norway not as the princess King Olav asked for, but as the woman who would save the peace. She offered herself: "I am not the one you asked for... but I came with my own will and courage."
This track is a Cinematic Journey, featuring the sounds of biting wind, rhythmic frame drums, driving cello, and the melancholy cry of the Hardanger Fiddle.
🎵 Musical Style: Cinematic Nordic Folk, Atmospheric Journey, Hardanger Fiddle, Cello, Rhythmic Frame Drums, Strong Female Vocals.
