An ascent of Beinn Chabhair from the Drover's Inn at Inverarnan, summit height at 933m (3061ft)
Complete polar opposite from my last video. The weather was fantastic!
From what I believe, this is the standard route of ascent to Beinn Chabhair summit, although I believe there is another route from the North.
There seems to me to be three sections to this hike. The initial ascent to the raised plateau at around 300m elevation is fairly steep, there is some reprieve as you clear on to the plateau but that is short lived when the bog arrives. There's the second section where it is around 2.5km in length of BOG. Heavy going! then there's the final third. This is more my type of terrain. Up and down rocky style ascent. You gain about half of the elevation here.
The views from the summit are as you'd expect. Outstanding. Looking over to the East and the immediacy of the rest of the Crianlarich hills is almost intimidating. How you quite tie up Beinn Chabhair and An Caisteal is beyond me. It is possible I believe.
Over all this is a fairly long hike at approximately 17km but well worth it if you have the weather!
