Atlantic bottlenose dolphins have been reported in the Chesapeake since the 1800s, but as pollution increased and water quality declined during the 20th century, sightings became few and far between. Today, it seems their numbers are on the rebound.
Join a crew of biologists surveying local waterways for dolphins, and meet the citizen scientists helping to keep tabs on these majestic mammals through a University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) project called "Chesapeake DolphinWatch".
