The Menopause Research and Education Fund (MREF) is please to host Dr Angela Maas as the first speaker in out Menopause Mastermind series of interviews.
Dr Maas is a professor or Cardiology in the Netherlands and author of 'A Woman's Heart'. She has a special interest in women's health and the gender specific heart disease risk factors women face, especially around midlife and the menopause.
She has spent decades advocating for improvements in women's health and pushing for changes in the medical system to ensure that women are taken seriously, diagnosed earlier in life and treated appropriately.
Here Dr Maas runs through all the risk factors we face from early in life like PCOS, early menopause or premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and preeclampsia and how the current risk factor tools are not adequately accounting for them and what we and out doctors can do to ensure our hearts are well taken care of. She also talks about high blood pressure and cholesterol targets in midlife.
