Four public meetings were held in September 2018 to provide opportunities to introduce the project to Scarborough residents and to collect ideas and identify opportunities for enhancing the public realm and supporting communities and businesses along the LRT route.

These public meetings included an interactive arts-based activity in which local residents were invited to draw their ideas for public spaces and communities along the LRT route, from Kennedy Station to Malvern Town Centre. This resulted in a series of drawings at four key locations from which key themes were extracted and used to inform the planning study Beyond Light Rail: Supporting a Corridor of Opportunity in Scarborough. The four key locations are: Eglinton-Midland Area; Eglinton, Markham and Kingston Road Area; Kingston, Lawrence and Morningside Ave Area; and Malvern Town Centre Area.

The drawings have also been combined into a stop-motion video, to provide participants the opportunity to see their drawing reflected in an alternative summary format.

Over 400 drawings were submitted by residents, community leaders, business owners and passersby at the public meetings. The video describes the Eglinton East LRT project as Scarborough’s transit corridor connecting people and places and mentions the four public meetings that were held in September.
