In Part 6 of our series, Miracle Season, Pastor Aaron Chapman delivers a powerful, eye-opening message on the miracle vs. the mundane—and how God may be moving all around us while we fail to recognize it.
Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s chosen people, the children of Israel, experienced undeniable miracles. God guided them with a pillar of fire and cloud (Exodus 13:21). Their clothes never wore out (Deuteronomy 29:5). He supernaturally provided manna from heaven daily (Exodus 16:4). Yet in Numbers 11:4–6, the same people who witnessed miracle after miracle began to complain, compare, and crave what they once had. They allowed the mundane—the ordinary, routine, and familiar—to steal their wonder.
The truth is this: we can live in a miracle and still miss it.
Mundane doesn’t mean meaningless—it often means we’ve grown accustomed to what God is doing. Some of the greatest miracles are disguised as everyday routines: waking up restored for the day , sustained by God’s mercy every morning, still standing after what should have taken us out. What if what you call “ordinary” is actually a miracle you’ve gotten used to?
This sermon challenges believers to
examine how sin, pride, laziness, complaining, and comparison can blind us to God’s present work. When we focus on what we don’t have, we miss what God is doing right now. Gratitude positions us to see clearly; complaining clouds our vision.
Pastor Aaron teaches that one of the silent enemies of the miracle is the mundane—and gives practical, biblical wisdom on how to manage it:
1. Remember the miracle.
Write down what God has done. Rehearsing His faithfulness fuels gratitude and shifts your perspective.
2. Don’t forget the joy.
Joy is not circumstantial happiness—it’s an inner peace and strength that comes from God. You can have joy at work, in waiting seasons, and in hardship. The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and it’s what sustains you when the blessing seems delayed.
Romans 15:13 reminds us that God fills us with joy and peace so we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. God alone is the source of true joy, fulfillment, and confidence. Don’t say, “I’ll be happy when the blessing comes.” Be joyful now, knowing God keeps His promises.
God loves you. He sees you. He is mindful of the desires of your heart. Don’t let the mundane steal your joy or cause you to miss your miracle. This message will encourage, convict, and realign your heart to recognize the miracle you may already be living in.
