This 19-kilometer bike ride begins and ends in Garderen. It takes you through one of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands: the Speulderbos and Sprielderbos, located in the Veluwe region. This forest has existed for thousands of years and was a sacred place for ancient Germanic tribes in prehistoric times. However, the current trees are "only" a few hundred years old, as the forest has been cut down and replanted over the centuries. The distinctive winding trees in the Speulderbos, mainly oaks and beeches, are often hundreds of years old and give the forest a mystical appearance.

Due to its age and long history, the forest is rich with stories and legends. There are burial mounds dating back to around 3000 BC, and remnants of Celtic fields have been found, indicating inhabitants from the late Iron Age. It’s no wonder that this is one of the most beautiful places in the Veluwe for hiking and cycling, especially for those who love enchanting forests.

Deze fietstocht van 19 kilometer begint en eindigt in Garderen. Hij voert door een van de oudste en mooiste bossen van Nederland: het Speulderbos en Sprielderbos, gelegen op de Veluwe. Dit bos bestaat al duizenden jaren en was in de prehistorie een heilige plaats voor oude Germaanse stammen. De huidige bomen zijn echter "slechts" een paar honderd jaar oud, doordat het bos door de eeuwen heen is gekapt en opnieuw aangeplant. De kenmerkende kronkelende bomen in het Speulderbos zijn vooral eiken en beuken, die vaak enkele honderden jaren oud zijn en het bos een mystieke uitstraling geven.

Vanwege zijn ouderdom en lange geschiedenis kent het bos vele verhalen en legendes. Er zijn grafheuvels uit circa 3000 voor Christus en raatakkers gevonden, wat wijst op bewoners uit de late ijzertijd. Het is dan ook niet voor niets een van de mooiste plekken op de Veluwe om te wandelen en fietsen, vooral voor liefhebbers van bijzondere bossen.
