The State of Technological Innovation in the Mining Industry

Automation and other technical developments have quickly become the
norm in the mining industry due to significant technological growth and the
growing need to refocus efforts on achieving shared values. It is anticipated
that this adjustment will reduce labor expenses and raise productivity. Dr. Kadri will be talking about the recent mining innovation and technological advancements he observed in open pit and underground mining during the last 20 years.

Dr. Kadri Dagdelen is an Independent NonExecutive Director of Randgold
Resources Limited. A professor and previously the head of the department
of mining engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, USA, Kadri began
his professional career as a mining engineer at Homestake Mining Co and was the technical services manager when he left for academia in 1992.
With a PhD in mining engineering and a ME in geostatistics, Kadri was
involved in numerous research and consulting projects worldwide. He also
served on the board of directors of the Society of Mining, Exploration and
Metallurgy in the USA for six years and has chaired other professional
societies that support the mining industry since 2010.
