On August 21st, 2018 a magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred off the coast of Venezuela. The shaking impacted many islands in the region and significant ground and structural damage was recorded in Trinidad. In the following days, scientists of The UWI-SRC went to Los Iros in Southern Trinidad, one of the most significantly impacted areas, to investigate the damage there. This video highlights some of the work undertaken by research teams at the Centre and reminds us of the need to be prepared for such events in the future.
