HUDSON HAWK on Commodore 64 is a 1991 platform action game developed by Ocean Software based on the film of the same title. The player controls Eddie ‘Hudson’ Hawk, a gentleman thief with extraordinary agility, who attempts to carry out a series of complex thefts in various heavily guarded locations. The game takes place in two-dimensional levels, where, in addition to running and jumping, you have to avoid lasers, security cameras, guard patrols, and many traps characteristic of high-security buildings. The game requires not only manual dexterity, but also memorising the movement sequences of opponents and finding the right pace for completing the levels, as many of them have a time limit that puts pressure on the player and forces them to make quick decisions. The graphics, as for the late Commodore 64 years, are quite detailed and colourful, although the character animations may seem a bit stiff and simplistic, which was typical of many Ocean Software games of that period. The accompanying music and sound effects are dynamic in style, but their variety is limited by the hardware capabilities of the C64. The structure of the game itself consists of several stages inspired by the film's plot, in which Eddie must infiltrate buildings, steal valuable items and escape from security services.
