Michael Myers is back—and bloodier than ever—but does Halloween Kills live up to the legacy of the franchise, or does it stumble in the chaos? This sequel picks up right after the 2018 reboot, ramping up the violence and action but losing some of the emotional weight and suspense that made the original so iconic.
While the film makes an ambitious attempt to explore trauma and collective fear, the execution is uneven. Laurie Strode takes a surprising back seat, and the ensemble-driven story sometimes feels more like setup than payoff. Still, longtime fans will appreciate the nods to the past, even if the film doesn’t fully carve a new path forward.
