On Saturday, October 18, 2025, more than 2,000 people gathered on Ocean Beach in San Francisco to send a message: NO KING / YES ON 50.
California’s Proposition 50 is a statewide ballot initiative aimed at countering mid-census redistricting efforts underway in Texas and other states. Supporters of the measure argue that these efforts could tip the balance of power in favor of Republicans, permanently reshaping the voting landscape.
Protestors positioned themselves inside giant letters pre-drawn in the sand, creating the striking message visible from the air. Drones captured the formation and the images were uploaded to the Associated Press in hopes of reaching media outlets around the world. #humanbanner-sf
