Write down your starting point today. Give yourself twelve weeks to retest. You will not chase everything at once. You will build a base and then add small steps.
Your base is movement quality. Learn a stance you can hold without bracing your lungs. Keep your feet at a natural width, not too narrow. The rear heel is light so you can turn the hip. The guard covers your jaw but your shoulders are free to move. Practice the basic step and the basic check. Practice a long straight punch and a long push kick. Keep the movements smooth and use your breath to keep a calm rhythm. In the first weeks you do not need power. You need control and repeatable form.
Older bodies recover well when you give them a warm start. Spend a few minutes on easy breathing, slow neck turns, shoulder circles, and light hip and ankle motions. Then use short, simple patterns that raise your pulse. Walk forward and back in stance, add a gentle check, then a long push kick, then back to stance. Finish with a few easy shadowboxing rounds where you move through the room. Before you touch a bag, you want your joints warm and your mind focused.
